Alexander McQueen Spring|Summer 2012

Once again we joined team Alexander McQueen for their Spring Summer 2012 Collection.

Creative Director Sarah Burton presented the Alexander McQueen Spring Summer 2012 Collection on October 4th at Paris Fashion Week, following such a successful year including the creation of one Duchesses’ bridal gown and her maid of honors elegantly provocative dress – all eyes and opinions were ready!

Britain’s legendary nail stylist Marian Newman graced the models nails with Minx for a fourth season in a row with her team of stylists Adam Slee, Kimberley Casey and Naja Rickette. Working alongside Minx owners Janice Jordan and Dawn Lynch-Goodwin to create something unique.

The 2012 Spring/Summer collection consisted of intricate beading work, womanly silhouettes, wrinkled silk as if sewn to the skin to layers upon layers of dainty ruffles, wisps of feather-light lace gliding effortlessly on air, embroidery fit for a King & rich golden textures that would have coated Queen Elizabeth I. Just magical!

I particularly love the neck lines that ebb into a waist grip, reminds me a little of Princess Leia’s infamous brassiere! *we’re still with royalty here*

Based around mythological Greek goddess Gaia aka Mother Earth. The ocean underworld creeps into our sight, metallic pearl layers that resounds mermaids, scales and fish tail like motions. Colors of shell, bursts of coral pink, antique lilac, all cleverly put together with expert tailoring-and hours of patience.

The nails were based on a brief of the vision, swirls of sea water foaming onto the shore with a sense of gentle liquid motion, mother of pearl and shells.

So a unique Minx template was born, bronze in color, layered with golden swirls. Marian included two other bases, one ivory one faint pink. This time layered with swirls in either MinxLusion, Matte Gold or Matte Silver.

“It was such an honor to be part of the Alexander McQueen show,” said Marian.  “The level of craftsmanship and the brief of the collection pushed me to explore new techniques and designs. I really enjoy the different challenges that come with each collection and always look forward to the show, as it is truly a unique experience.”

And a complete JOY to watch *replay count: 6* !!
