We love this particular Missoni fabric “impression”. Simple, but beautifully effective, sitting strong in the MinxLusion backdrop.
For those of you new to Minx Land, MinxLusion is the exclusive prismatic, shimmery silver bombshell of color that is achievable in nail fashion only by Minx Nails, and was a perfect complement to the iridescence running throughout the rich fabrics of the Missoni collection.
Leading the nail team – Marian Newman – top nail guru of the United Kingdom! “I sat with Janice (co-founder Minx Nails) while we opened the references, and after discussing some ideas, eventually decided to create gentle fades of the exact colors with a slight distortion – rather like a Bakewell tart,” explained Marian. “Janice then began designing this interpretation, using the three color collections of blue, yellow and red, but decided to make them translucent to allow a MinxLusion base,” said Marian. “We showed our range of Minx coatings to the design team the day before the show, and when Margherita saw the Minx, she brought everyone over,” recalled Marian. “The designer Angela Missoni and the stylist Venessa Reid made the final selections, choosing Minx coatings that did not replicate the swatches too closely, but instead accented the overall look of each ensemble,” Marian explained.
Minx co-founder Dawn Lynch-Goodwin assisted Marian’s team backstage as they applied a MinxLusion base and the corresponding top coating of Minx to the 37 models who walked the outside courtyard of the Universita Statale di Milano.
“This was a completely new direction for Missoni, which normally uses natural-looking nails for the runway,” said Dawn. “We were so thrilled to be part of this perfect show, and it was wonderful to see all the members of the Missoni family in attendance, from the founder through to his lovely grandchildren.”
“There is no other medium in nail fashion that could have accessorized this collection so perfectly,” said Marian. “The end result was a stunning complement to Missoni’s distinctive look.”

A color punch for the eyes…and now the nails!
Fashion/Beauty/Gossip guru’s Grazia UK were backstage at Missoni and managed to scoop this interview with Marian Newman whilst she prepared the Missoni Minx – assisted by the Chief Cheeky Minx, Dawn Lynch-Goodwin.
