Once again, Minx was called upon to assist with the nail details for Vivienne Westwood’s Gold Label Spring/Summer 2012 Collection set in Le fab, Le Grand Hotel Intercontinental.
Legend UK nail stylist Marian Newman was the woman to sweep in and create the fun, child like nails for the show. Marian has worked with Dame Vivienne Westwood 4 or 5 times now, this time to create something completely spontaneous that would melt into the many powerful messages this collection was to represent.
“Vivienne and her husband Andreas wanted a look that was fun! like a child had gotten hold of the nails and gone wild with play time!” said Marian. “We’re going to look at each models individual outfit, make-up and hair and just roll with it”
“The next day, when I saw Vivienne backstage before preparation, I asked her if I should just go off and play now, and she said ‘Yes, you go off and play!’” Marian laughed.
A selection, made by Andreas, of different Minx Nail designs were used including Oil Slick, Flowers, Aqua Chrome and Japanese Blossom, Shell and Black – using them randomly and misplacing them was the part of the look. To contribute to the designs random blobs of nail polish and crystals were also added to the overall effect, So that you are truly fooled into believing that a child has been engaging in some serious nail art!
The 37 models were Minxed by Marian Newman and her team of Adam Slee, Naja Rickette, Delphine and Agathe Pons.
Each models toe nails were coated in Gun Metal Gradient Minx Nails. This design has been a long term favorite with the men at Minx HQ for a long time now! A really great effect, especially when you play around with layering.
“The end result was really wonderful, and Andreas said they were the best nails ever,” Marian concluded.
