All Geared Up by Tracey Lee
“It was only when I moved to the Netherlands in 2002 that I got a taste of the nail industry when I completed my nail course. It has been a whistle-stop tour since then. I have been fortunate enough to have worked in the role of Director of Education and Head of Product Development for an international nail and beauty company. This was a very dynamic role including education, research and development, travel and a great deal of networking. As of 2016 I have been working as an Independent International Educator and Consultant, and I have been fortunate enough to represent various companies at Trade Shows, International Trainings, Open Days, Conferences and Competitions.
2015 saw the launch of my vlog: TNT – Tracey’s Nail Talk. Taking a look at our industry in a light-hearted, but still educational way.
2016 has been an exciting year as I have joined the Mastered:Nails program where I continue to learn and develop within the nail and fashion industry – we never stop learning. This program has really opened my eyes to nails in a completely different way, under the guidance of the legendary Marian Newman. The program takes you out of your comfort zone, and brings you back with a fresh, new vision in the industry. A “must-do” for everyone willing to push their limits!
I have been fortunate enough to have been selected for Nails Magazines Next Top Nail Artist Competition. From all the entries worldwide, a group of 24 nail artists were selected. There have been two elimination rounds and I am still in the running to become Nails Magazines Next Top Nail Artist. “
“I first discovered this amazing industry in 2001, shortly after the birth of my daughter and I am only sad that I didn’t find it sooner! I live and work in Dawson Creek, an oil and gas town in the north of beautiful British Columbia, Canada but I am originally from Berkshire in the UK. Reggie was a birthday gift to myself last September after wanting to own a hairless cat for many years, it is like having a hyperactive, mischievous teenager (yes, he talks back!) and there is never a dull moment. I love to travel, meet new industry people and I love to learn. I fulfilled 2 of my career dreams this year, opening my own training academy and supply store AND having a Minx with my name on it! I have had my work published in industry magazines, I have won competitions for my 3D artwork, worked runway and trade shows and I made it to the top 18 of 2015 Nails Magazines search for the Next Top Nail Artist. Last but definitely not least, I have just completed the Mastered program Nails:Creativity where this opportunity came. I have had so many awesome experiences but, joining the program and finding my TRIBE has got to be in my top 3 life moments.”

I love learning new techniques and using new products to create beautiful works of art. I came across the Nails Mastered program in a Facebook ad and decided to check it out. I made the decision to apply because I want to learn how to market myself more effectively. I’d like to take my work up to the next level in terms of technique and skill.”
Spaced Out of Time by Monique Hoefsmit
“I am Monique Hoefsmit born in Rotterdam (The Netherlands) on 25th of October 1973. Moved to Belgium together with my parents and sister when I was 17 years old and have since adapted completely to the Belgian way of life. Completed my studies as secretary, in PR and Management. Also studied English for a year in Oxford. Worked at a publicity agency for almost 3 years, and also met my husband to be during that period.
I Started working for my in-laws to find out about two years later that they also decided that it was not in the best interest to have us (the in-law daughters) working for them. So in search of a new challenge I stumbled upon this beautician who also did my nails for my wedding day. And as so many before me, I got really interested in making nails.
So since 1999 I have run my own nail studio. It has been a success from day one, I have never had to do any advertising for it just by word of mouth people got to know me.
Then, in the year 2003 I decided to put my salon on hold as my husband works abroad with his company so much. So I decided that my role was to be a mom (I have two boys of 15 and 17 years old) and wife should come first. But because of personal issues I decided last year to put in some more me/my business time. So that is why I enrolled the mastered program. And was very surprised with what came out of this. So this is where I am now and from now on the only way is up for me and my business. My hobbies are: tennis, cycling, skiing and travel. “
“I have qualified as nail technician NVQ LVL2 in Nail Services 12th September 2013 at Margaritas Belskas Beauty School, UK.
My first salon work was at COCO nail bar in Portobello Road, UK. This salon was a winner of Professional Beauty Award 2014 and 2016. This was the most challenging place as it was my first salon experience, but I also have learned a lot from there.
Swanky Lash and brow bar was my second workplace. At that time I did semi-permanent lashes and wanted to do that too, so decided to leave Coco. In Swanky we did nails as well, but only Classic and gel polish manicure and pedicure.
My passion was always for art and long nails, so not long after I decided, that my artist soul was dying in there. The owners in the salon did not want to bring something new in, so I had to leave. This was very hard step to take, because I decided to work for myself. I had no client base, no real savings, and no place. Luckily, I approached my hairdresser and she was happy to give her manicure table to me for rent.
During all this time I never stopped learning and improving my skills and I think I never will. I crave for new knowledge.
I have done many nail art courses, I also travel abroad to train there with other professionals in the industry. Practice makes it perfect. This is my motto. Also joining the Mastered Nail Program was the best thing happened to me in my long run with nails. Since May I started teaching at Margaritas Belskas Beauty School; I love my students and I love how they challenge me to find a new ways of explaining things , because everyone is so different how they learn!”
